Anacortes Mayor Matt Miller, Club president Marta McClintock and City Councilor T.J. Fantini took shovels in hand to mark the official Project groundbreaking Wednesday. Sunny skies and a good-sized crowd joined in the celebration.
Construction of the Anacortes Rotary Viewpoint at Cap Sante—the crowning achievement of our club's centennial project--is now expected to be complete within the next several months. The stunning view from the park summit was on full display Wednesday for the groundbreaking ceremony. Site clearing and foundation preparation began Tuesday as contractor Nels Strandberg and crew tackled the first stages of work.
If you missed the groundbreaking event, don’t worry. In Spring, the club and the city plan a community celebration for the official dedication of the view platform. More details on the spring event will be released early in 2025.
