Anacortes Rotary names Students of the Month:
Anacortes High School (AHS) students Emilie Shjarback, Nicole Jordan and Natalie Blanchard are the Anacortes Rotary Club Outstanding Students of the Month.
Emilie, an AHS sophomore, is the daughter of Eric and Silja Shjarback. A band member since the fifth grade, she currently is a member of the AHS Jazz Ensemble and the Jazz Band. She also studies music theory in the Advanced Placement program. Emilie plans to pursue her interest in the arts in college.
Nicole, a junior at Anacortes High School, is the daughter of Timothy and Kristina Jordan. She is a member of the Honor Society and is actively involved in community service. Nicole’s future career plans are still evolving. She is considering a potential career as an Art Teacher with definite plans to focus on the arts when she moves on to college.
Also, a junior at the high school, Natalie is active in basketball, track and field, the concert and jazz choirs and the LINK crew. Link Crew connects older students with younger ones to help incoming freshmen navigate their way through high school to reach graduation. For five years, she has been active in Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), a nationally recognized college prep program. Natalie is the daughter of Amanda Pippins. After graduation, she plans to attend college and study business.
