History Students Provide Insights to Berlin Airlift Follow on Youtube  https://youtu.be/yqCmELpTiFk

Anacortes Middle School students Michael Hanrahan, Trey Patrick, Ryan Horr and Will McClintock, first place finishers in the Washington state “National History Day” contest, presented their documentary short film as the club’s featured lunch program May 9.  They used interviews and document research to create a 10-minute film on the Berlin Airlift for the national competition.

Next stop for the foursome is the University of Maryland, where they will compete for the top national awards.

This year’s theme is “Conflict and Compromise in History.” Students must brainstorm a topic that connects to the theme and research the topic using primary sources. Students work individually or in groups. The competition includes five categories: academic paper, documentary, performance, exhibit and website.
